ON HOLD – 1940s Eterna Large Size Waterproof Antimagnetic Chronograph

Price on request

This very rare 1940s Eterna antimagnetic chronograph ticks all the boxes for collectors of these early waterproof cased chronographs. It features a large size case measuring 37.6mm with screw back case and “pump” pushers. This was “waterproof” specification at the time with these being the ultimate sports watches from the period. The original dial is truly remarkable in terms of desirability and rarity. It is a gloss black dial that has a brown (tropical) patina and has contrasting silver numerals, tracking and hands. The dial and hands also lack any luminous which is why it has remained in such great condition (radium can often burn dials over the decades). The case is sharp and appears unpolished.  The watch is powered by a manual wind calibre 704 E movement which is a Valjoux 71 base. This is a true connoisseurs vintage chronograph and similar to the Cyma Watersport chronographs from the same period.
